Business initiatives will not fix social problems
Treating social problems as startup opportunities often fails and can create new problems. Some domains need other institutions.
Solutions to social problems via business initiatives are not going to work in the way many hope, and they will create additional and new problems. Markets are powerful tools for some classes of coordination. They are a poor substitute for family, culture, public duty, and state capacity where those are the actual missing pieces.
I do not dismiss enterprise. I resist the fashion of turning every civil wound into a venture thesis. Wrong tool, wrong incentives, wrong aftermath.
