Efficient systems are healthy. Healthy systems last. Survival is a design criterion, not only growth speed.

Efficient systems are healthy. Healthy systems will survive longer. That is a quieter ambition than maximum speed or maximum spectacle, and often a better one for institutions that must outlast a news cycle.

I care about systems that can absorb stress, correct error, and still function. Growth that destroys health is a short story with a dramatic middle.
