Needs travel faster than local production
Connectivity spreads wants evenly. Means of producing goods and services do not. That gap drives discontent and migration.
A lot of inter-region migration is not mystery psychology. Needs have changed and are getting more uniformly distributed thanks to better connectivity and smartphones. The means and capability of production of goods or services are not getting uniformly distributed. Needs grow; incomes do not scale with them in the same places. Discontent and migration follow.
Some regions lack geographical and logistical advantage. Those regions need people who can understand the full dynamics and still invent ways to participate higher in the value chain. Accepting that needs have changed is the start. Pretending old local production patterns will satisfy new consumption patterns is how a region loses its young people without a plan.
