Stability is why people still chase government jobs
Private sector faces demanding customers and capital risk. Government has monopoly and perceived stability. Desire follows what people observe.
The private sector faces a demanding audience; government often has monopoly power in its domains. Private firms must be capital efficient and absorb uncertainty alone. People noticed that government could still pay salaries during COVID while many private employees suffered. Entry-level pay comparisons between government and private teachers tell a similar story.
Most people look for the stability government seems to provide. Expecting private paths to become more desirable without changing what people observe is wishful. People are rational relative to their environment. If they observe private work doing better in security and dignity, they will move. Until then, seminars against exam-prep culture will not beat the visible contract.
