Reading is not an optional hobby for children
Reading builds imagination and compounds. Without a nudge, people drift to video. That is a capability choice, not a neutral preference.
Reading builds imagination. This is not a hobby we can make optional for kids. It is a virtuous cycle: those who read develop interest, read more, and get better. If we do not nudge, people gravitate toward video more easily.
I do not oppose screens as such. I care about what fails to form when long-form reading never becomes habit. Imagination and attention are infrastructure for later skill. Treating them as lifestyle accessories is how a generation loses depth without noticing the invoice.
