Trust both intent and capability
On hard work with others, there is often no alternative to trust. That trust has to cover intent and capability, not only goodwill.
Someone you will need to trust. There is often no other option. Trust has to cover intent and capability, both. Good intentions without competence still break the work. Competence without clean intent eventually redirects the work.
I do not treat trust as sentiment. It is a decision under incomplete information, and the two axes matter separately.
