Much knowledge never gets written down
Fear of judgment keeps a lot unsaid. Reading alone therefore misses what experience, observation, and honest conversation carry.
Not everything gets written or said, often because of fear of being judged. That creates a huge gap between knowledge acquired by reading and knowledge acquired by experiencing, observing, and brainstorming.
Books and posts matter. They still under-sample the room where people speak carefully, hold back, or only show what survives public scrutiny. If your model of a field is only the written surface, you will systematically miss the frictions and trades that practitioners know and do not publish.
