Worldview
Life, work, and institutions answer to the same principles. The knowledge that actually holds systems together is rarely where the titles say it is, and understanding earned under cost is worth more than theory that never paid a price.
I do not treat life, human nature, and organised work as three separate subjects that happen to share a vocabulary. The same person who fails at judgment in private life will eventually fail at judgment in an organisation; the same principles that make a durable family or community tend, when ignored, to hollow out companies and institutions as well. What I am looking for are those principles: not tactics for a season, but frames sturdy enough to carry across domains because they describe how people actually live, decide, and build.
Under that sits a harder observation. The most consequential knowledge in almost any system sits in the wrong rooms. It lives with people whose titles, credentials, or institutional rank do not announce what they hold, while the rooms that claim authority often hold something thinner: summary, narrative, or fashion. In the age of AI this is not a romantic complaint; it is an operating fact. Surfaces of expertise are being commoditised at speed, and the work that remains valuable is the work of finding where real understanding still lives, organising it, and putting it to use. The standard stories about how expertise and institutions form are frequently wrong, and the cases that disprove them are ordinary once you know how to look.
I trust, as a starting bias, people who have had to make things work. Those who do the work understand the world differently from those who only write about it, because their understanding was load-bearing: it had to be right enough for something not to break. Theory that never met that kind of cost is cheaper than it appears. Theory that has been tested against doing, over years and against resistance, is rare and valuable. I write as an operator who thinks in public, not as a commentator who visits the shop floor for material.
