Discussion is not contribution

Discussions, commentary, criticism, and debates about problems and their solutions are necessary conditions to solve a problem. They are not sufficient.

Our belief, or our attempt to remain in the illusion, that social media discussions are enough as contribution is what keeps many problems alive. I do not dismiss talk. I refuse to confuse it with work.

Forums clarify language and sometimes surface options. They do not implement, hire, teach, ship, or absorb the friction of the ground. When we treat the thread as the contribution, the problem gets a soundtrack and keeps its life.

Social media concern and ground presence are not the same currency. One is abundant. The other is scarce. Societies that confuse them keep feeling busy while nothing compounds.

Drawn from writing on X as devendrasm on discussion, contribution, and ground vs feed.
