People are not interchangeable

People are not interchangeable units. Right people at the right place, with hearts in the right place, can make things that seemed impossible happen. Systems that treat talent as a commodity discover the cost only after the rare people leave.

Right people still need an environment that is not pure chaos. Smart people need non-chaos to build. Attracting makers is not only a wage problem; it is a problem of stability, seriousness, and whether the room rewards finishing work.

Trust, when you need others for hard work, has to cover intent and capability, both. Good intentions without competence still break the work. Competence without clean intent eventually redirects the work.

Everyone knows what others are supposed to do. Very few know what they themselves are supposed to do. Public conversation is full of prescriptions for governments, schools, and strangers. The scarcer act is naming your own next concrete duty and carrying it without an audience.

Drawn from writing on X as devendrasm on people, place, trust, and duty.
